On Sunday, May 19, 2013, with his loving family at his side, James Emery Boyle, a fifteen year resident at 3532-2 Hunter's Woods Boulevard passed peacefully to his heavenly home while residing at the Jameson Care Center. Born October 13, 1927 in New Castle, Mr. Boyle was the son of the late Clarence and Bertha Mae Emery Boyle and the stepson of the late Alice Goodwin Boyle. In addition to his parents and stepmother, Jim was preceded in death by brothers Raymond, Warren and Clair Boyle. Sisters-in-law Hazel Boyle and Marsha Boyle Cochran and several nieces and nephews survive.Left to mourn is the former Ruth Irene Smith who became Jim's bride nearly sixty years ago on June 6, 1953. Jim also leaves his devoted daughters Beverly Boyle Hunt and Jodi Boyle Iannucci (Vincent), both of New Castle and beloved grandchildren, Shandra Lynn Iannucci, Seattle WA and Sean Anthony Iannucci, Orlando, FL. A United States Army veteran, Jim served in Japan following WW II and stateside during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged as a corporal. Prior to military service, Jim was employed by Shenango Pottery. Following his discharge, he owned and operated a long-distance semi tractor/trailer until his retirement. The Boyles were long-time residents of the Plain Grove area where Jim was a member of Plain Grove Presbyterian Church and the Plain Grove Sociables. He served on the Wilmington Area Board of Education and the Plain Grove Zoning Board. Active in retirement until health concerns caused restrictions, Jim was an avid golfer who was justifiably proud of having scored a hole-in-one. He enjoyed attending live theater productions and, if the Steelers were playing, Jim could be found watching or listening to his favorite team. Keeping abreast of current events and watching movies from the past were among Jim's pastimes as well. A deep commitment to his family, service to his country and community, an unwavering work ethic and Jim's heart-warming sense of humor combined to leave countless treasured memories for all whose lives he touched. Friends will be received at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, Wednesday, May 22, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to a funeral service scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 23 at the funeral home. Reverend Amy Na, pastor of Shenango Presbyterian Church will officiate at the service with interment at Plain Grove South Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions in Jim's name to Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, RD #3, Slippery Rock, PA 16057, Shenango Presbyterian Church, 3144 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105 or a charity of the donor's choice.
