James E. Burkett, age 61, born on April 6, 1961, of New Castle, PA, passed away at his home on Aug. 20, 2022.
After graduating from New Castle High School, Jim joined the Navy becoming a Hospital Corpsmen. He then went on to work as a welder for several steal manufactures and eventually worked with the Veterans Administration. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, sitting on the porch listening to oldies, taking care of his plants and his apartment, camping, fishing, and feeding the wildlife around his home. He loved going for walks with his two boys, Beanie and Sparky, his two little chihuahuas he loved with all his heart. He was a kind soul who would help anyone in need. Most of all, he loved his family and his longtime soulmate, Lisa Kirchell.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert R. Burkett, his sisters, Connie Lynn Burkett Watters, Lisa Dawn Burkett Murphey, nephew, Joshua Wayne Shaftic, niece Brittney Joan Watters, all of New Castle.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Frances and Robert Trusel of New Wilmington, brother, Albert Russell Burkett, Jr. of New Castle, sisters, Robin Burkett of New Wilmington, Marlane Lutz (Edward) of Neshannock, and Shirley (Larry) Jacobs.
You are now free from all sorrow and pain and can rejoice with our loved ones in heaven. Rest in peace dear brother until we meet again. You will always be in our hearts.
The family will hold a private graveside memorial service, at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, where online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.cunninghamfh.com.
