James Charles Smith, 57, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of September 23, 2013 at his residence. Born April 14, 1956 in Sharon, he was a son of Charles Edgar Smith and Margaret Fredina DeHaven Smith Hawthorne. He was a 1974 graduate of Mohawk High School. Mr. Smith was employed for 39 years as a tractor-trailer driver and was most recently with Auto Express Transport as a long distance car carrier. In addition to his mother with whom he made his home, he is survived by 5 daughters, Michelle, Katelyn, Sheena, Rochelle and Sarah; 3 sons, Jared, Jonathon and James; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Phyllis L. and Hiram Westover of Clearfield, PA, and Sharon L. and Robert Thompson of New Castle; 5 grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 1 nephew. There will be no calling hours and a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the R.
