James Paul Donston, 79, of New Castle, passed away the morning of January 26, 2020 at Shenango on the Green in New Wilmington. Born June 18, 1940 in New Castle, he was the son of Jasper G. and Dorothy (Megan) Donston. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara J. (Sizer) Donston, whom he married March 26, 1959. A New Castle High School graduate, he began working for American Cyanamid Co. for 10 years until he gained employment with Mathews Conveyor in Ellwood City for 3 years. Jim then worked for another 34 years with Badger Expansion Joint Company in Zelienople until his retirement. Jim was a lifelong baseball coach, coaching at all levels of the sport, culminating as an assistant coach with Westminster College. He also enjoyed playing golf in his retirement years. He was a member of Croton United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Carole A. (Kraig) Owens of Corinth, TX; three sons, James D. (Cyndi) Donston of New Castle, Ronald C. (Susan) Donston of Yorktown, VA, and Robert T. (April) Donston of Grove City, PA; one brother, Timothy M. Donston of New Castle; one sister, Pamela J. (John) Crist of Mt. Jackson, PA; 13 grandchildren, Jimmie (Brooke) Donston, Justin (Tierney) Donston, Jeffrey (Amy) Donston, Matt (Emily) Owens, Jackson Owens, Allison Owens, Lauren Donston, Emily Donston, Ryan Donston, Michael Donston, Stephanie Owens, Natalie Villani and Lauren (Sam) Vilifshi; and 4 great-grandchildren, C.J. Donston, McCaleb Donston, Maddux Donston, Madelyn Donston, and his fifth great-grandchild due to arrive in April. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Karen Hitchen; one brother, David Donston; and a great-grandson, Jupiter Vilifshi.
