James J. Fagan, Sr., 81 of New Castle passed away Friday, July 29, 2016, surrounded by his family. His family and close friends knew him as Jerry and his business friends and associates knew him as Jim. Jerry was born on November 18, 1934, in Barberton, Ohio, to the late Daniel A. and Margaret B. Webster Fagan. He married the love of his life, Eileen J. Pellegrino Fagan, 55 years ago. Jerry moved to New Castle in 1966 after leaving National Rubber and Machinery Company and co-founded Feedscrews, Inc. Feedscrews, Inc. was sold to Union Electric Steel Company and Jerry again partnered with another feedscrew manufacturing company in New Castle. At the age of 50 Jerry and Eileen took a leap of faith and began their own company, Precision Feedscrews, Inc. of New Castle PA. Precision Feedscrews, Inc. was Jerry's pride and joy and the Company is now celebrating its 30th year. Jerry graduated from Akron South High School, attended and graduated from Wittenburg University's School of Management in Springfield, Ohio and The University of Pittsburgh's School of Management. Jerry served his country during the Korean War and was a member of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Division, United States Army. Jerry served on the Boards of The City Rescue Mission and People's Bank of Western PA/First Commonwealth Bank. He was a member of The YMCA and New Castle Country Club. Jerry loved to sing and play his electric or acoustic guitar. He was involved in many bands and singing groups throughout the years and enjoyed singing, from Elvis Presley tunes to Gospel songs. Jerry was an excellent athlete. He played basketball well into his adult life, at times ran 15 miles a day, played racquetball daily and even helped The Spaulding Company develop their first aluminum racquet. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish. In fact he loved them both so much that he carried a fishing pole in his golf bag. Jerry had an amazing personality, a very quick wit and a sense of humor that he shared with everyone. Jerry was a die-hard fan of The Cleveland Browns, The Cleveland Indians, The Cleveland Cavaliers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Jerry is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife, Eileen, his son James (Jerry) J. Fagan, Jr. and his wife, Juvy of Volant, his daughter Mary McAnallen and her husband, Terry, of New Castle, and his daughter, Jane (Janie) M. Fagan of West Pittsburg, his 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in passing by his parents, three brothers, William A., Robert M., and Gaius L. Fagan and one sister Margie Jeandrevin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA. Pastor Neil Leftwich and Pastor Rich Noble will officiate. Burial will take place in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
