James B. Ford, 92, of Rhodes Estates, New Castle, went to be with his Lord the morning of April 17, 2011 at his residence.Jim was born February 15, 1919 in New Castle to the late Burton and Maude Evans Ford. On February 11, 1942 Jim married the love of his life Beryle A. Rankin Ford. Just this past February, they celebrated 69 years of marriage together. Jim retired in 1979 from the B & O Railroad. He worked for 37 years as a railroader. Jim served his country in World War II in the Aircorps, serving in Africa, Italy and Algiers. Jim was a proud member of First Assembly of God Church in New Castle were he served in many ways. He was well known for his care of the church vans. He was also a member of C.I.O railroad union.Jim is survived by his wife, Beryle; a son, Lee Burton Ford of Cadiz, KY; one granddaughter, Charline Dicus of Austin TX; and two great grandchildren, Jourdan and Jacob Dicus. Jim and Beryle have been taken care of by a special friend over the last several years, Rosemary Ayers of New Castle. He is also survived by two nieces, Sylvia Pinkerton and Sheila Craig; and two nephews, Glenn and Gary Ford.Jim was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Clifford and John Ford; and a niece, Shirley Winters.Visitation will take place Tuesday, April 19, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, 2021 Pulaski Road, New Castle.A funeral service will take place Tuesday, April 19, 2011. at 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church conducted by The Rev. Chad Stoecker and The Rev. Kenneth Meyer. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
