James J. Houk, 62, of New Castle, passed away May 1, 2026, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born May 12, 1963, in New Castle, he was the son of William Clair and Gladys Lorene (Heckathorn) Houk who preceded him in death.

A Laurel High School graduate, he was employed as a union electrician at Vantage Corp.

Among James' many interests, he liked hunting, going to his camp, working on his MG and greatly enjoyed his model trains.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara "Bobbi Jo" (Seltzer) Houk; two daughters, Deidra (Dallas) Solada of New Castle and Ashley Blodgett of Slippery Rock, PA; two sons, James J. (Jonica) Houk, Jr. and Ryan (Ashley) Seltzer, all of Zelienople, PA; two brothers, David C. Houk of Ellwood City and Timothy (Lauran) Houk of New Castle; one sister, Cindy Childs of Grove City, PA; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
