James E. Jones, Sr., 67, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 23, 2017 in Ohio. Born June 8, 1950, in New Castle, he was the son of Harry and Emily Nicholson Jones. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce Leonard Jones, whom he married on June 21, 1969. A Laurel High School graduate, Jim was employed as a lead maintenance with Calgon. Jim enjoyed many sports including paragliding, hunting, fishing, golf, football, hockey and riding motorcycles. He loved watching his children and grandchildren compete in sports. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Janine (Richard) Goehring of New Castle and Jennifer (Russ) McConnell of Wampum; two sons, James E. Jones, Jr. and Jay (Julie) Jones of New Castle; three brothers, David Jones of Volant, Bill Jones of New Castle and Don Jones of Ellwood City; one sister, Dorothy Jackson of Bessemer; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Jones. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. with a funeral service at 8:00 at the R.
