James A. McCormick, 75, of New Castle, passed away the morning of January 19, 2018 at his home.
Born November 9, 1942 in San Diego, California, he was the son of Samuel and Sylvia Mumm McCormick.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kathleen Ross McCormick, whom he married October 24, 1992.
A graduate of University High School, Jim attended the University of Southern California for two years.
Jim was a Sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War period from 1961-1964.
Among his many interests, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Julie McCormick of Pasadena, CA and Janeil Brodsky of Del Mar Beach, FL; one son, Alexander McCormick and his fiancee Sarah Michaels of Mt. Jackson; one step-daughter, Angela (Matthew ) Fowler of New Castle; one step-son, Patrick (Samantha) Vereb, Jr. of Plum, PA; one sister, Kathleen S. McCormick of San Diego, CA; and seven grandchildren, Max Brodsky, Aiden Brodsky, Mallory Vereb, Jack Vereb, Dominic Vereb, Isabella Fowler and Matthew Fowler, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Joseph, Sam, John and Alex McCormick.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place immediately following visitation at 3:00 p.m.at the funeral home with Pastor Greg Marshall of New Life Baptist Church officiating, along with Patricia Moore.
