James A. Minteer, 51, of New Castle, passed away suddenly the afternoon of October 29, 2013 at Grove City Medical Center. Born August 11, 1962 in New Brighton, PA., he was a son of David D. and Mary "Polly" Young Minteer. Jim was a truck driver for Castle Builders Supply in New Castle. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a history buff, especially interested in the Civil War. He also enjoyed photography. Jim was of Protestant faith. He is survived by his mother of New Castle; two sons, Forrest Minteer and Jackson Minteer, both of New Castle; and one brother and sister-in-law, David M. and Melinda Minteer of New Castle. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by The Rev. Frederick H. Gilbert of Independent Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
