Obituary

James Lawrence Moser, 82, of Slippery Rock, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, surrounded by his son Travis James Moser and his beloved wife Nancy Louise (McKnight) two days shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. And they said it wouldn't last!

Jim was born to the late Elizabeth R. (Wallas) and Kenneth E. (Pete) Moser on June 23, 1940, in New Castle, PA. Many knew him as the young milkman working for his family's business, Wallas Dairy. In high school, Jim was a record-breaking basketball and baseball player. He continued playing baseball on the Volant County League into his forties. Jim was also an avid hunter, golfer, and fisherman, all of which he enjoyed with several lifelong friends.

Jim worked for Rockwell Axel for over 20 years, gathering many friends and stories along the way, before retiring from Marett Carpet One.

A devoted father who loved seeing his son perform live, Jim also enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Tionesta, PA with the "Old Nevada" hunting crew and the various golf leagues at Green Meadows Golf Course. He was also known to sing a mean "I Feel Good" by James Brown, upon request.

Jim was a lifetime Laurel Spartan fan and in recent years, became an avid reader, while often writing poetry for friends and family. He had an unmatched zest for life and made friends everywhere he went.

Never one to pass up the opportunity to relay a good story (albeit its validity), Jim's kindness, curio, and enthusiasm for being in the constant company of the many family and friends he loved, made certain that Jim will be missed by those who knew him well and those who met him only once.

Jim was pre-deceased by his parents, his sister-in-law Janet R. McKnight and his beloved dog Bailey Moser. His brother Kenneth (Pete) Moser and sister-in-law Susan Presnar live in Hermitage, PA. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

In keeping with James' wishes, a private service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, where online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.cunninghamfh.com.
