James P. "Jim" Reed, 66, of Harlansburg, passed away the morning of June 3, 2013 at Jameson Hospital. Born February 8, 1947, in Brookville, PA, he was a son of Mac G. Reed, Sr. and Evelyn C. Beisel Reed. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Evelyn A. Mitrea Reed, whom he married July 5, 1966. Jim was a 1965 graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as an SP-4. He was employed as a millwright with Rockwell Truck and Axle Division in New Castle, retiring in 1992. Jim was a member of the VFW in Clarion, PA, Post 2145. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Jim was of protestant faith. In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he is survived by one daughter, Jennifer A. Reed DeLong and husband Steven L. DeLong of Hookstown, PA; two sons, James P. Reed, Jr. and wife Debbie S. Reed of Volant, PA, and Jeffrey M. Reed and wife Wendy Reed of New Castle; six brothers, Richard and Sally Reed, Robert and Barb Reed, John Reed, Dennis and Molly Reed and Mac G. Reed, Jr.; one sister, Patricia Schneider; and seven grandchildren, Emily, Taylor, James R., Bradley, Alison, Emma and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Dr. Stanley Keehlwetter. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Center Church Cemetery.
