James H. Reno, Jr, 83, of Ellwood City, PA, passed away the afternoon of May 2, 2015 at Ellwood City Hospital. Born September 21, 1931 in New Castle, he was the son of James H. and Rhoda Belle Davis Reno, Sr. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Rita M. Smith Reno, whom he married March 22, 1957. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Marines from 1952-1955. He was employed as a welder and retired in 1998. Jim was a Boy Scout leader for 25 years with troop #840. He served as Scout Master from 1977-1987 and was a member of the Moraine Trails Council. An active member of the Mahoning New Castle Masonic Lodge #243, Jim served in the capacity of secretary, treasurer, past master and worshipful master. In addition to serving on the Cathedral Foundation board of directors from 2000-2008, he was Thrice Potent Master in the Lodge of Perfection in 1990. Jim also held membership in the Valley of New Castle Syria Shriners, the Lawrence Caravan and was a life member of American Legion #243 as well as the NRA. He attended Princeton Memorial Church. In addition to his wife, Rita, he is survived by one daughter, Kay Lynn (Harry) Foster, Jr. of Volant, PA; three sons, Keith A. (Janet) Reno, and Barry L. (Patty) Reno, of Ellwood City, PA., and Bryan A. (Karla) Balch Reno of Glendale, MD.; one brother, Jon T. Reno of Ellwood City, PA.; three sisters, Barbara Dymond of Wilkes Barre, PA, Joyce Mulhollen of Portersville, PA, and Kathy Reno Jartz of Chicago, Ill.; one grandchild, Krista Foster. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Margaret Olson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00-8:00 pm. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. At the conclusion of visitation, a masonic service will be held at 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Pastor Randy Stringer officiating. Military rites will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
