James J. Sanfilippo, 61 of New Castle passed away on December 19, 2024, at White Oak Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Warren, Ohio.

Born on May 7, 1963, in New Castle, he was the son of Joseph and Patricia Sanfilippo. He married Valerie (Riggs) Sanfilippo on May 25, 1991. She survives at home.

James was a member of First Baptist Church.

He was a graduate of Neshannock High School and then pursued his degree at Clarion University. He was employed with Electron Energy Corporation as a Sales Engineer. James enjoyed golfing, coaching youth sports and traveling with Valerie. He was the past President of the Neshannock Touchdown Club. What gave him most joy was time spent with his family.

Along with his wife, James is survived by four sons, Andrew Sanfilippo of Pittsburgh, Michael Sanfilippo of Bethlehem, Jeffrey Sanfilippo of New Castle, and Duncan (Jen) McNally of Poland, OH; two sisters, Kimberly Chamberlain of Sharpsville and Lisa Dombrosky of New Castle; one brother, Vincent Sanfilippo of East Liverpool, OH; and one step-grandchild, Madeline McNally.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Monday, December 30th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.

A memorial service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. John Yergan officiating.
