Dr. James S. Snow, Jr., 82, of W. Meyer Ave., New Castle, PA, passed away the morning of March 30, 2010 in Allegheny General Hospital.Born on January 21, 1928 in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late James S. Sr. and Margaret Perkins Snow. He married June Rodgers Snow on June 2, 1951. She survives in New Castle. Dr. Snow was a 1946 New Castle High School graduate. He attended Westminster College Pre-Dental program and graduated from Pitt Dental School. Dr. Snow was a dentist two months short of 50 years in practice. He served in the US Navy for two years. Dr. Snow was a lifetime member of Croton United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and trustee. He was a 40 year member of the American Dental Association, also past president of the Lawrence County Dental Society, Syria Shrine, Mahoning Lodge #243, a member of the Scottish Rite, Towering Titans, and Jameson Health Care Foundation Board of Directors. He was a former Golden Panther, past member of Pearson Park Commission, and Neshannock School Board. He was a member of Castle Paws & Taws where he was the past president. He coached 13 year old baseball leagues for several years. Dr. Snow was also a past member of the Carolyn Knox Reader Committee. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, baseball, gardening, square and line dancing.In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dr. James and Joni Delio Snow, III of New Castle, Dr. Gary and Donna Cassidy Snow of New Castle, Dr. Craig and Donna Zuzik Snow of New Castle, and John Snow of Dewey Beach, Del.; one brother, Richard Snow of Mars, PA; and six grandchildren, Jamie Snow, Michael Snow, Lindsey Snow, Jason Snow, Cassidy Snow and Sydney Snow.He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Edyth Heckathorn and Marjorie Russell.Visitation will be on Thursday, April 1, 2010, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and Friday, April 2, 2010, from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Rd., New Castle, PA.A service will take place on Friday, April 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ron Wanless of Croton United Methodist Church and Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church officiating.
