James "Hap" Wesley Stock, age 92, of New Castle, passed away the evening of February 17, 2019, at the Haven Convalescent Home. Born August 17, 1926, in New Castle he was the son of William and Mary (Dennis) Stock. On May 2, 1947 he married his beloved wife, Suzanne (Bessell) Stock. She survives at home. James was a 1st Class Seaman in the Navy, serving his country in World War II from 1943-1946. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator and engineer with the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 66 for 45 years until his retirement in 1990. Among his interests, Hap enjoyed fishing and golfing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, James W. Stock, Jr. and wife Claire of New Castle; two daughters, Cynthia Powell and husband Dan of The Woodlands, TX and Patricia Cindrich and husband Mike of New Castle; one sister, Suzanne Elias of New Castle; two brothers, Jerry Reid and wife Jan of Bradenton, FL, and William F. Stock and wife Carol of Murrysville, PA; 5 grandchildren, James J. (Chrissy) Stock, Nicole (Ronald) Hiler, Jason (Sandy) Ridenbaugh, Kara Ridenbaugh and Frank (Taylor) Attisano; 8 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William Stock and Edward Reid. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 6:00-8:00pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place immediately following the visitation at 8:00 pm at the funeral home with the Pastor Jarod Mills of Clifton Flats Alliance Church officiating.
