James R. Vernon, age 68, of New Castle, passed away on Saturday, July 4th, 2015 at his residence. Born Dec. 31st, 1946 in Canton Ohio, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Marjorie Russell Vernon. Jim married Sally Rodgers on Oct. 18th, 1975 and she survives in New Castle. Jim graduated from Union High School in 1964, he served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1971, when he returned home he went to work for Shenango Pottery, retiring after 26 years service and than worked for Wal-Mart in their maintenance dept. retiring after 8 years. Jim enjoyed roller skating, photography, but most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of Croton United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by one daughter Amanda (Mandy) Vernon Knauff of New Castle, 7 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 2429 Wilmington rd., New Castle. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm from the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Long officiating. Burial will be in Castleview Cemetery.
