James 'Jim' R. Woods, age 75, of New Castle, PA, passed away the early morning of Nov. 29, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 7, 1946, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late James E. and Edith E. (Kerr) Woods. On Aug. 10, 1968, he married his beloved wife of 53 years, Louise (Miller) Woods. She survives at home. Jim faithfully served his country in the United States Navy. He worked security at EQS, was a grid caster at New Castle Battery and most recently, he was an employee of Moresky's. Jim enjoyed wood working and the time he spent with his family and his faithful dog, Maggie. He was a founding member of Church of Genesis. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by two daughters, Dianne (Terry) Penwell and Amy (John) Lockwood, both of New Castle; two sisters, Margaret Ketchel of New Castle, PA, and Linda Hackett of Polk, PA; three grandchildren, Sarah Penwell of Ellwood City, PA, Nathan and Kaitlyn Penwell both of New Castle, PA; and one great-grandchild Noah. Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by one brother, David Woods. Visitation will be on Wed. Dec. 1st from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Church of Genesis, 303 N. Cedar St, New Castle, PA 16102. A service will follow immediately at 4:00 PM with Pastor Ron Eade officiating. Burial will be at Unity Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
