Janelle S. Hanna, age 80, of New Castle, passed away the night of November 7, 2016 at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born January 28, 1936 in Georgia, she was the daughter of Frank and Virginia Bower Shaw. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William R. Hanna, whom she married September 6, 1952. Janelle was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Pensacola, Florida. She was the store manager for the former Robert Hall clothing store and later worked in the food service department at the K-Mart in Lawrence Village Plaza. Among her many interests, Janelle enjoyed bird watching, knitting, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, David Hanna of Salem, Ohio and Don (Kathleen) Hanna of Grand Prairie, TX; one sister, Jerrie McCullough of Georgia; 7 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dale Hanna; and one brother, Jack Shaw. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A burial will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Arrangements are being handled by the R.
