Janet C. Axe, 75, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of May 5, 2014 at Jameson Hospital North.Born July 15, 1938 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Harry C. and Caroline Coulter Ruby.Janet married John W. Axe on February 4, 1956.A 1956 graduate of New Castle High School, she was a cashier for 15 years at Giant Eagle on New Butler Road.Janet enjoyed traveling, cruises and going to the casino.She was a charter member of Independent Methodist Church.In addition to her husband, Janet is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Carl Rogers of New Castle; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Beth Axe of New Castle; two grandchildren, Stacy and Jessica; and three great grandchildren, Shayna, Zachary, and Carson.She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Kennedy, and Corraine Pounds; and two brothers, Chuck Ruby and Melvin Ruby.Visitation will be Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev.
