Obituary

Janet Elizabeth Covert, 62, of New Castle, Pa., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 6th, 2018, at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. She was born on August 4, 1956 to the late Dr. & Mrs. F. Dickson Marshall. She was a graduate of Union High School and Moody Bible Institute. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of New Castle where she sang in praise teams, choir, and several musicals. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Tom Covert, her loving sons; Rev. Philip (Sarah) Covert of Nashville, TN., Josh (Kira) Covert of New Castle, and Tim Covert of New Castle; Grandchildren; Knox, Haddon, Hudson, Keller, Aurora, Annabelle, Aubrey, and Zaira; Siblings: Jerry (Jan) Marshall of Palm Beach Shores, FL., Tom (Shelly) Marshall of Falls Church, VA., Tim (Yumi) Marshall of Erie, PA., and Katie Marshall of Oklahoma City, OK. She worked at 1st Wesleyan Methodist, City Rescue Mission, and Shenango on the Green. She was lovingly known as wife, mom, sister, Mimo (Me-Mo), Ragamuffin, and friend. Janet's faith in Christ was the foundation of her life evident in her beautiful voice which was shared with many. Through the years she led children choirs, bell choirs, and a youth worship team. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. F. Dickson & Phyllis Marshall and one grandchild. There will be a time of visitation Thursday, August 9th from 6:30-8:00 PM at First Baptist Church of New Castle. There will be a celebration of life service on Saturday November 24th at 11:00 AM at First Baptist, as well.
