Janet Rae McGrath, 90, of Neshannock Township, went to be with the Lord December 22, 2015 at the Overlook Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. Born April 17, 1925 in New Castle, she was the only child of the late Edward and Frema Fox Miller. She graduated from New Castle High School. At age 15, she met her future husband while working as a car-hop at Earl's Dairy on Coaltown Hill. She was married May 1, 1943 to the love of her life, Charles "Chuck" McGrath. They worked together in the family business, McGrath Electronics, for 40 years. She also worked at Sears and McGrath Florists while Chuck served in World War II. Janet was a member of Clen-Moore Church where she served as a Deacon, cooked and served church banquets, and was a pianist for the children's Sunday School. She was a member of the original committee to install the swimming pool in Pearson Park. Janet and Chuck served on the Cascade Park Dance Committee for many years and were accomplished ballroom dancers. She was dedicated to her family, entertaining their friends, gardening, and creating needlework gifts for family and friends. In addition to her husband of 72 years, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Richard Early of Charlotte, NC; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Denise McGrath of Brentwood, CA., and Scott and Linda McGrath of New Wilmington. She is survived by 6 grandchildren: Mari Rae McGrath, Kristen Early Hauer, Martha McGrath Brown, Jonathan McGrath, Bethany Early, and LeeAnna Early; and 4 great-grandsons. Visitation will be held 3-6 p.m. Sunday and 10-11 a.m. Monday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 2429 Wilmington Road. A service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Weichman officiating. Interment will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
