Janis Berry, 69, of Easton, Maryland passed to God the night of March 6, 2019 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Born February 20, 1950 at the Ellwood City Hospital in Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Joan Livingston Francis and the late John Francis Jr.
Janis is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Walter Berry, whom she married on August 7, 1971.
Mrs. Berry is a graduate of Laurel High School and earned her Bachelors Degree at Slippery Rock University. She started her career at the Easton Elementary School in Maryland teaching special education classes. Her dedication and love of teaching then took her to Saint Lukes Nursery School with Kindergarten classes until the time of her death.
A Girl Scout in her youth, she carried her passion for scouting to the role of Girl Leader. She assisted her husband in baseball training by keeping score et cetera, earning a nicktitle of assistant manager.
A life-long Christian, Janis was an active member of the Royal Oak Community United Methodist Church in Easton. She taught summer school classes.
In addition to her husband and mother she is survived by two sons and their families: Jonathan and Alice Berry, son: Jasper Berry and daughter: Delilah Berry. Walden (Denny) and Amanda Berry, son: Nickolas Lupinos, daughters: Ziola Berry, Layla Berry, Briana Crow, Isabella Berry.
Janis gave her whole self to doing unto others and made life better for multitudes. Let not your heart be troubledJohn 14.
Visiting hours will be at the R.Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, Pennsylvania, on March 11, 2019 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
Pastor Chuck Fombelle and Reverend Thomas Drake will officiate the funeral service on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM.
Interment will folllow at the United Baptist Cemetery in Harlansburg, Pennsylvania.
