Obituary

Jason Lloyd Michaels, 46, of Mercer, PA went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 14, 2020 after a recent cancer diagnosis. Jason was born September 10, 1973 in New Castle, the son of Lloyd and the late Rose (Pavelek) Michaels. He was s 1992 graduate of Laurel High School. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with degrees in criminology and political science. Jason married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Christin (Ritchie) Michaels, on April 3, 1997 aboard a cruise ship to the Bahamas. Together they owned and operated Pizza Joe's franchises in Mercer and Venango County. Jason was an entrepreneur who put his wisdom into other business ventures as well. No matter what he dedicated himself to, it was successful because he put 110% into everything he did. Jason will be dearly missed by all those whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity. He truly had the most unselfish and giving soul. Because his heart was larger than life, he was always willing to lend a hand, offer support and advice and donate his time. He was involved in countless charities and organizations to help others. Jason's family was the most important part of his life. As busy as he was, he still found time to do the things he loved. He traveled the world with this family, enjoyed many deep-sea fishing adventures, looked forward to hunting season with "The Michaels". He also enjoyed going to flea markets and antique shows. He was an avid vintage hunting and fishing lure collector. Jason was a very involved father with whatever his sons were active in, finding himself in ice rinks across the nation. In addition to his wife of nearly 23 years, he is survived by his three beloved sons, Jonathan, Joshua and Joseph. He is also survived by his father; one brother, Darryl (Jeanenne) Michaels of New Castle; and one sister, Suzanne (Edward) Sankey of Ellwood City. He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister, Patricia Michaels List. He was truly an inspiration and role model to his sons and everyone who was lucky to have known him. Due to the unfortunate health crisis within our country, the family will hold a private service to abide by the current CDC guidelines. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Hermon Cemetery. In keeping with Jason's generosity and giving spirit, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, others might "pay-it-forward" by doing random acts of kindness toward those in need in his honor. Arrangements are by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., where online condolences may be offered at www.cunninghamfh.com
