Jean L. Brubaker passed away on August 2, 2023, in Jacksonville, Texas, at her home that she shared with her daughter. She was born in Phillipston, Pennsylvania on November 25, 1925 to the late Charles and Mabel Remaly Mortimer. On June 7, 1946, she married Charles L. Brubaker. He preceded her in passing on September 18, 1985.

Formerly of New Castle, Jean, together with her husband, owned and operated Brubaker's Greenhouse on Ellwood Road. She was an active member of Savannah United Methodist Church until they relocated to Tyler, Texas in 1978. She worked for Dillard's Department Store until her retirement and was a member of Asbury Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Brubaker, her son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Linda Brubaker; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Cody) Shelton, Laurel (Mark) Sanders and Scott Brubaker, 4 great grandchildren; Catherine and Caroline Sanders, C.W. and Emma Blackmon and 2 brothers, Charles (Bud) Mortimer and Royd (Red) Mortimer.

In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in passing by a great granddaughter, Gracie Blackmon; her sister and brother-in-law Charlotte and Wally Clever and a sister-in-law Barb Mortimer.

Visitation will be held at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. on Wilmington Road on Thursday from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Service will be conducted by Pastor Tim Fair of New Life Baptist Church. Interment will be at Castle View Memorial Gardens.
