Jean L. Gavroy, 77, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of March 1, 2015 in Jameson Hospital. Born August 30, 1937 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Patterson and Sarah Sentgeorge Sankey. She was preceded in death on December 29, 2014 by her husband of 57 years, Charles A. Gavroy, whom she married June 15, 1957. She was a 1956 graduate of Union High School. Jean has been a 30 year employee with Reliable Lumber and Supply as a bookkeeper and previously worked for 20 years at Kline Lumber. Among her many interests, Jean enjoyed scrapbooking, fishing and reading. Her family was always most important to her. She was a member of Shenango Christian Church. Jean is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Daniel Shoaff of New Castle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles P. and Karen Gavroy of New Castle, and Jeffery A. and Leah Richwine Gavroy of Prescott, AZ; one sister, Shirley Kresowaty of New Castle; 5 grandchildren, Tiffany Savo, Danielle Shoaff, Kristen Shoaff, Andrew Shoaff, and Joshua Gavroy; and 4 great-grandchildren, Haylie Savo, Landon Savo, Carter Savo, and Kaitlyn Chambers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Sally Shaffer. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5 from 4:00-7:00 and Friday, March 6 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Terry Baker of Life Springs Christian Church of Akron, Ohio and Tim Irwin of Shenango Christian Church.
