Jean M. Morgan, 86, of Riverside Apartments, passed away the afternoon of May 13, 2018 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born November 4, 1931 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Ralph and Rose Smith Magee. She was preceded in death on July 14, 2001 by her husband of 48 years, Allen S. Morgan, whom she married September 20, 1952. A graduate of New Castle High School, Jean pursued a nursing degree from the Jameson School of Nursing. She was employed with the Lawrence County Visiting Nurse Association and later was a part-time employee of Jameson Hospital as an RN. Jean was a member of Independent Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Melanie Kiger of Edinburg and Marilyn Gallagher of New Castle; six grandchildren, Lacy, Shelly and Adam Kiger, Spencer and Riley Gallagher, and Jason (Jean) Allen; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan Shore and Jason Allen Jr. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosanne Morgan; and a sister, Eleanor Magee. A two hour visitation will be held prior to the service on Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, with the service at 7:00 p.m. The Rev. Frederick H. Gilbert will be officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
