Jean M. Rigby, age 89, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of August 8, 2024, at Quality Life Services, New Castle.

Born January 4, 1935, in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of Leonard and Bruna (Gianneschi) DeRita.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Wallace E. Rigby, whom she married June 3, 1954.

A Butler High School graduate, she enjoyed being a homemaker, taking care of her four children.

Jean loved golf and was a member of the Rolling Hills Golf League for 25 years. She also enjoyed fishing, playing bingo and was an excellent baker. She will always be remembered for the love she had for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Kathy (Robert) Mularski of Harrisville, PA, Susan (Jeff) Hofmeister of Carthage, NC and Lesley (James) Coston of Richland, NC; one son, Vernon Rigby of New Castle; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Vera Geibel and one great grandson, Bruce Rigby.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no service.
