Jeanne R. Byler, 93, of New Castle, passed away the evening of October 23, 2014 at the Haven Convalescent Home.Born February 15, 1921 in Middleton PA, she was the daughter of John Lloyd Gill and Ruth McClelland Gill Herbert.Jeanne married Carroll C. Byler, Jr. on September 7, 1940 and they had 72 years together before he passed away May 2, 2013.She was Salutatorian of Grove City High School and then attended Grove City College for two years majoring in Latin and French.Jeanne was employed as the secretary at Glenshaw Presbyterian Church.She was a member of several bridge clubs, was a fan of Pittsburgh and local sports teams, and was one of the first women trustees at Glenshaw Presbyterian Church.Jeanne belonged to Highland Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Barnabas Group and the Friendship Class.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Van Horn of New Castle; a daughter-in-law, Christine Byler of Altanta, GA; two grandchildren, Kristen Tejada and her husband, Frank and David Van Horn and his wife Alycia; and four great grandchildren, Adam, Francisco, Alex, and Allison Janae.In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert C. Byler; and her sister, Lillian Gill.A special thanks to the Haven for their loving and compassionate care from the administration all the way down to the residents.Visitation will be Sunday, October 26, 2014, from 1-4 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be conducted Monday, October 27, 2014, at 10 a.m at the funeral home. The Rev.
