Jerry W. Garver, Jr., 51, of Sumner Ave., passed away on Saturday, May, 18, 2013, at his residence. Born October 25, 1961 in New Castle, he is the son of Jerry W. Sr. and Mary Lou Bromley Garver. Jerry was a graduate of Lawrence County Vo-Tech. He worked as a union painter for most of his life after being discharged from the Air Force where he served as an Airman 2nd class. Jerry liked hunting and fishing, weight lifting and spending time with his family. He attended New Life Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he is survived by his fianc(c), Debbie Freed of New Wilmington, a daughter, Nakia Garver of Butler PA; two sons, Ross and Brock Garver of Orlando Fla.; a brother, Douglas J. Garver Sr. of New Castle; and a sister, Tammy Lynn Maxwell of New Castle. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Bromley of New Castle; and nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Justin Garver; maternal grandfather, John Thomas Bromley; and paternal grandparents, Leroy S. and Jeanette Barkley Garver. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 23, 2013, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at First Church of God, 12 W. Euclid Ave., New Castle. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the church with the Rev. William Hunley officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements are by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., Wilmington Road, New Castle.
