Joan E. Christy, 74, of New Castle, passed away January 4, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital. Born December 13, 1942 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Harold and Bertha B. Walters Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Christy on April 21, 2005. Joan was employed by McDonalds and was a member of Hoover Heights CMA Church. Surviving are her three daughters, Sarah Christy and Cheri Christy of New Castle, and Tammy Brocklebank-Christy of Bessemer; 5 sisters, Maryland Gaydosh, Wilamina Medved, Audrey Kent, Jean Adams, and Colleen Brightshue; 9 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sons, Mark, Harry Jr., and William Christy; 1 brother, Jimmy Brown; and 3 sisters, Darleen Carothers, Marsha Pistachio and Sue Ellen Brown. In keeping with Joan's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Memorial Service will be held on January 14th at 11:00 AM at Hoover Heights CMA Church, 1947 Morris Street, New Castle. Arrangements are with the R.
