Joann M. "Brigid" Cairns, age 83, of New Castle, formerly of South Carolina, passed away the night of January 23, 2026, at her residence.

Born February 9, 1942, in Atlantic City, NJ, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Richie) Cairns.

Joann was a graduate of Immaculata University where she received her bachelor's degree, gaining employment as a teacher with Immaculate Conception School in Bristol, PA until her retirement.

She was of Catholic faith.

She is survived by her wife, Jackie Stokes; two brothers, Joe Cairns of Collegeville, PA and Richard Cairns of Murrells Inlet, SC; and a granddaughter, Summer Utara.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kevin Cairns.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.
