Joann R. Shaffer, age 67, of New Castle, passed away the morning of April 4, 2015 at Jameson Hospital. Born February 9, 1948 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Floyd Critchlow and Ann Trocci Critchlow Munson. Surviving at home is her husband of 27 years, Larry E. Shaffer, whom she married December 1, 1987. Joann attended New Castle High School. Prior to her employment at Shaffer Tree Service where she was half-owner and bookkeeper, she served as a nurses aide with Golden Hill Nursing Home. Joann had several interests, some of which were reading, riding motorcycles, fishing, and building puzzles. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother who resides in Maryland; a daughter, Jodi Ettinger of New Castle; and five grandchildren, Brad, Brandi, Mia, Henry and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Beverly Michaels. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.
