JoAnn Sizer, 85, of Bessemer, PA , passed away the morning of August 18, 2024, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born April 26, 1939, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Ralph F. and Estelle (Gibala) Mercer.

She was preceded in death on November 7, 2022, by her husband of 62 years, Robert E. "Bob" Sizer, whom she married March 1, 1960.

After her high school graduation in 1957 from New Castle High School, she attended nursing school in Philadelphia.

JoAnn enjoyed being a homemaker, taking care of her four children. She enjoyed music, gardening and, in her words, yacking on the phone. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Jill (Rodney) Anderson, Penny Sizer and Wendy (Steven) Pape; one son, Bob (Shelley) Sizer; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parent and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph F. Mercer, Jr.

Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 23, from 5:00-7:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jordan Rimmer officiating.

Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Bessemer.
