Joanne G. Baxter, age 90, passed away the night of March 18, 2022, in New Castle. Born May 14, 1931, in New Castle, she was the daughter of Cecil Gordon and Alice Gordon Latimer and stepdaughter of Glenn Latimer. She was preceded in death on June 6, 2004, by her husband of 52 years, Richard Dale Baxter, whom she married November 17, 1951. A 1949 graduate of New Castle High School, Joanne was employed with Dollar Savings Association where she worked the drive through, and later, a loan officer. Among her many interests, she was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Spending time with her family was what gave her the greatest joy. She was a long-time member of the former Second United Presbyterian Church. She is survived by three daughters, Abbie Dale Baxter (Theo) Betley of New Castle, Amy (Scott) Fehrs of Warrendale, PA, and Allyson (Dave) McGoogan of Leetonia, Ohio; one son, Richard "Andy" (Barbara) Baxter of Leechburg, PA; six grandchildren, Jamie Fehrs of Tampa, FL, Danielle (Tyler) Hughes of New Castle, Ryne Baxter of Monroeville, Alex Baxter of Leechburg, PA, Josh McGoogan and Dale McGoogan of Leetonia, Ohio. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and his wife, Glenn and Dorothy Gordon. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Clen-Moore Place for their wonderful care of Joanne. Private services will be held for the family. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lawrence County YMCA. Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.
