Joanne Elizabeth McEwen, age 84, of New Castle, passed away the morning of May 6, 2021, at Shenango on the Green. Born May 24, 1936, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Lois E. (Hinkson) Johnson. Joanne was a 1955 graduate of New Castle High School. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her two sons, Dennis R. (Renee) McEwen of Mt. Lebanon, PA, and Daniel R. (Peg) McEwen of New Castle, PA; a sister, Linda Dalton of Chambersburg, PA; four grandchildren, Clarissa McEwen, Maire (Ryan) McEwen Borra, Maeve McEwen and Morrin McEwen; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James "Jim" Johnson, John "Jack" Johnson, Robert "Bob" Johnson, Donald "Don" Johnson, and one sister, Elizabeth Johnson. The family would like to thank UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, Don Services Inc., and Three Rivers Hospice for the exceptional care they gave to Joanne. A memorial service to honor Joanne's life will be scheduled at a later date.
