Joel C. Duncan, 79, of 608 Meriline Avenue, New Castle, passed away the evening of March 21, 2015 at his residence.
Born September 24, 1935 in New Castle, he was a son of Rev. Clifford L. Duncan and Emma V. Lewis Duncan.
Surviving at home is his loving wife of 52 years, Maureen Pape Duncan, whom he married April 7, 1962.
Joel attended public schools in New Castle and Elizabeth, PA. He worked with several companies in previous years; J.J. Dean, Pepsi Company, and Wheatland Tube. He was employed with Rockwell International where he worked in the forge for 23 years until his retirement.
Some of his interests were golfing, softball and baseball. He had a love for the outdoors, including fishing and hunting, but truly enjoyed spending time at his camp in Tidioute, PA.
He was a member of Westminster Lodge and of St. Joseph the Worker Church.
In addition to his wife Maureen, he is survived by two daughters, Maureen A. Dottle of Greenville, SC, and Bridget K. Waskin of Portersville, PA; four sons, Robert "L.P." (Marcie) Duncan, Joel C. Duncan, Jr., and Damon B. Duncan, all of New Castle, and Christopher L. (Julie) Duncan of Winchester, VA; two brothers, James Duncan of New Castle and Thomas E. Duncan of Edinburg; two sisters, Mildred Booher of Rockhill Furnace, PA, and Maryellen Koelliker of New Castle; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Rae and Ruth Burrows.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A procession will leave the funeral home Thursday at 9:50 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church. Father James Downs will be officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
