John A. Biddle, 87, of West Euclid Avenue, New Castle, passed away the morning of June 2, 2012 at Jameson Hospital.Born March 17, 1925, in New Castle, he was a son of Washington C. and Katherine M. Sitler Biddle.He married the former Laura Mae McClelland on May 19, 1946. She preceded him in death July 16, 2011.John served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII with the Army Medical Corp as a Technical Sergeant. During that time, he served in Germany a year and a half.He retired in February, 1990 from Packard Electric as a tool and die maker. Previously he was employed by Johnson Bronze and Pennsylvania Engineering.John was a member of First Christian Church where he formerly served as a deacon.He is survived by a daughter, Pamala Lavella of New Castle; a son, Barry L. Biddle of Peru, Iowa; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Laura and a sister, Katherine Louise Powell.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. John Lyons will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
