Obituary

John Coulter, age 90, of New Castle, PA, passed away March 10, 2026, with his wife holding his hand.

Born Jan. 22, 1936, in New Castle, PA, he was the son of the late John A. and Florence (Kennedy) Coulter.

John finished high school while serving in the United States Marines. He served his country from 1953 to 1956. He was employed with the New Castle Refractories for 43 years before retiring in 1999. He was an avid private pilot and nature lover. He treasured the outdoors and the open skies. John was also a problem solver who often took on projects at work and at home, including building two homes from the ground up, overhauling cars, building ultralight airplanes, and repairing everything imaginable. He has passed on to his family his love of aviation and automobiles, good work ethics, and his family-first values.

John is survived by his loving wife Carole, his children and stepchildren, Anand Shetty, Karen (Todd) Stanley, Loren (Debbie) Holler, Herb (Michelle) Holler, Tim Holler (Crystal), Diane (Walt) Lewis, and Pam (Brian) Watkins; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Shirley (Reynolds), his daughter, Barbara Shetty, two stepsons, Jeff Holler and Brian Holler, three brothers, Arthur Kennedy, Jim Coulter and Cliff Coulter, and two sisters, Pat Byers and Ann Fulkman.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation or services.

Burial will be at Castle View Cemetery.
