John W. "Jack" Davis, 87, of Summitview Dr., New Castle, passed away the morning of Oct. 12, 2010 at Edison Manor.He was born Oct. 20, 1922, in New Castle to John F. and Della Crowthers Davis. He was married for 70 years to Winifred "Winnie" Mann Davis, who survives. Jack retired from the Universal Rundle Corporation after 41 years of service. He was a CCC Boy and Vice President of the CCC Chapter 125. Jack also served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After retiring he enjoyed golfing and he always loved his dogs.In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Richard Davis of New Castle, Jack and Cindy Davis of Canfield, Ohio, Brian and Leslie Davis of Niceville, Fla., Charles & Candi Davis of Lisbon, Ohio; and Greg Davis of New Castle; one daughter Barbara and Joe Macri of Center, PA; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Lee Davis; a brother, George Davis; a sister, Ceola Price; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Davis.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010 at the funeral home. The Rev. Grace Wolford will officiate. Interment will be at Castle View Gardens.
