John Paul Hudson, 73, of Portersville, passed away the afternoon of March 10, 2018 at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
Born May 13, 1944 in New Castle, he was the son of George and Grace Kelso Hudson.
John was formerly married to Nancy Hudson and subsequently married Diane Hudson who preceded him in death in 2016. He is survived by his longtime companion, Opal McClymonds.
After his graduation in 1962 from Union High School, he attended Slippery Rock University for two years.
John was an insurance agent, formerly employed with Kemper Insurance and Baltimore Life Insurance Companies.
A member of the Elks Club, he served as the Exalted Ruler and the district secretary. He was also involved with the Jaycees and the New Castle Airport Authority.
Among his many interests, John enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, bowling and golf.
A former member of Northminster Presbyterian Church, he more recently attended Unity Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, John G. Hudson and his wife Cherie, and Matthew P. Hudson, all of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Evan Torsello, Clara Hudson, Johnny Hudson and Rory Hudson.
In addition to his parents and second wife Diane, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Hudson.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Unity Baptist Church, 304 Old Route 19, New Castle, PA with the Rev. Zach Dudenhofer officiating.
Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery.
