John Kordish, 74, of 306 E. Elizabeth Street, passed away the morning of February 27, 2012 at Edison Manor.Born February 27, 1938 in Spangler, PA, he was a son of John Kordish and Alva Ruth Schaffer Kordish Cook. He was the step-son of the late Charles M. Cook.He married Dorothy Gramsky who also preceded him in death.He attended school in Twin Rocks, PA and served in the U.S. Army as a PFC.John was employed as a Civilian Contractor with the Navy in Cape Canaveral, Florida where he later retired.John enjoyed fishing.Survivors include six brothers; James, David, Robert and Charles Kordish, and Gary and Michael Cook, all of New Castle; and four sisters, Donna Nero, Janice Cook, Carolyn Cook and Tammy Pauline, all of New Castle.In addition to his parents, step-father and wife, he was preceded by two brothers, Ronald and George Kordish.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Gary DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in North Oregon Cemetery, Oregon, Ohio.
