John B. Maas, 87, of 507 Neshannock Blvd. passed away at Jameson Hospital on Nov. 4, 2012 following an extended illness.He was born in Ashland, Wisconson on April 22, 1925 to Frank and Inez (McCurdy) Classon.John was the youngest of two sons. His brother Paul, as well as both parents, preceded him in death.John married the former Alma Margreta Bergman of New Castle in September of 1957. They were married until her passing in June of 1979.John leaves behind four children, three sons, John (with wife Cheryl), whom reside in Florida, Peter, Paul (with wife Linda); and a daughter Mary, all whom reside in New Castle. Five grandchildren, Lindsay, John, Samantha, Christopher, and Paul complete the family.John was a WW II and Korean Conflict veteran, and was extremely proud to have served in the U.S. Navy during those times. He was a lifetime member of the Tailhook Association.Besides being an avid reader, John was a fan of many sports, particularly football and baseball.In keeping with John's wishes, there will be no calling hours or service.Interment will be private at Oak Park Cemetery.Arrangements are by R.
