John W. McCracken, Sr., 72, of Harlansburg, passed away the afternoon of November 21, 2015 at Jameson Hospital.
Born September 4, 1943 in New Castle, he was a son of Richard and Harriet "Jane" Morrison McCracken.
He was preceded in death on June 7, 2008 by his wife of 48 years, Florence M. Hovis McCracken, whom he married January 2, 1960.
John was a self-employed truck driver. He enjoyed times spent with his family, and was active in Sprint Car racing for over 20 years.
He is survived by two sons, Raymond D. (Lori) McCracken and John W. (Lisa Pitts) McCracken, Jr., all of New Castle; two brothers, Harry Lee McCracken of Grove City and Samuel McCracken of Girard, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Josh W. McCracken, T.J. McCracken, and Summer Sterner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Matthew Bupp, Celtic Hospice Chaplain, officiating.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
