John R. McKinley, age 73, of New Wilmington, passed away on the morning of August 16th, at his home.

Born on August 4, 1951, in New Castle, PA, John was the son of the late John and Alice Patricia (Reznor) McKinley.

John is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sue McKinley.

After graduating from Neshannock High School in 1969, followed by a degree from Ashland College, he went on to become an entrepreneur.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, and golfing. He had a full professional life from banking, architecture, carpentry, and horse racing. He was a highly successful restaurateur as CEO and co-founder of Springfield Restaurant Group with Bill Kingery. John served on several boards within the community. Most of all, his greatest joy was his family.

In addition to Sue, John is survived by one daughter, Megan (Elizabeth) O'Dell McKinley of Findley Lake, NY; a stepdaughter, Jamie Cullen of New Wilmington, PA; two sons, Benn (Mikayla) McKinley of New Wilmington, PA and Ethan McKinley of New Wilmington, PA; and one brother, Tom (Mary) McKinley of New Wilmington, PA; several step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jean Stuart.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22nd from 3:00- 7:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105.

A funeral service will take place at New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, 229 S. Market Street, New Wilmington, PA 16142, the following day, Friday, August 23rd at 10:00 AM with Pastor Becky Rosengarth officiating.

Burial will be at Oak Park Cemetery.
