John C. Morrow, Jr., age 98, of New Castle, PA, passed away the early morning of March 6, 2024, at his residence.
Born Sept. 7, 1925, in New Castle, PA., he was the son of the late John C. and Hannah (Edmunds) Morrow, Sr.
On March 16, 1951, he married he beloved wife of 72 years, Lois (Beard) Morrow. She survives at home.
Mr. Morrow was the last surviving graduate of Eastbrook School, class of 1943. He bravely served his country, in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in Normandy, Northern France, and Central Europe. He was awarded various medals, for his diligence and courage, that included the Bronze Star Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, just to name a few.
John worked as a machinist employed by Forney Corporation, and then went on to work for Strohecker Incorporated, until his retirement. John loved to garden and was an avid sports fan, but what gave him the most joy in life, was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, John C. Morrow III (Julie) of St. John FL, David Morrow and Edward Morrow (Lynne) both of New Castle, PA, Ted Morrow (Rhonda) of Edinburg, PA; one brother, Elmer Morrow of Williamsport, PA; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Karen Morrow, two sisters, Justyne Houston and Sally Thompson, and one brother, Thomas Morrow.
Visitation will be held on Sat. March 9th from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation, at the funeral home at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Damian Williams of Church of Genisis, officiating.
