John L. Roberts, 84, of Union Township, passed away unexpectedly the evening of August 8, 2016 at his residence. Born December 24, 1931 in Connoquesnessing, PA, he was the son of Ellis and Kathrine Hasychak Roberts. He was preceded in death on July 24, 1985 by his wife of 31 years, Thelma Reynolds Roberts, whom he married on October 12, 1953. John served his country in the U.S.Navy during peacetime. He was employed as an overhead crane operator with General American Transportation Association in Masury, Ohio until his retirement. Having a real love for music, John sang and played in a band and had a talent for playing several instruments. He also enjoyed race cars, street car racing, and doing yard work. He is survived by one daughter, Teri Cowens of Toledo, Ohio; two sons, William Roberts of Somerset, Pa and John Roberts of Toledo, Ohio; and two grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel J. Roberts. There are no calling hours and a memorial service will take place at a later date.
