John Clifford Sankey, 68, of New Castle, passed away the night of May 29, 2019 at his daughter's residence in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
Born December 10, 1950 in New Castle, he was the son of John and Shirley (Beight) Sankey.
He was preceded in death on March 21, 2018 by his wife of 25 years, Dawn E. (Dexter) Sankey, whom he married on March 28, 1992.
After his graduation from Neshannock High School and attending classes at the New Castle Business College, John served in the National Guard from 1971-1977.
John was employed for over 30 years as a millwright with the Bessemer Cement Plant until his retirement.
Among his interests he enjoyed gardening and walking, often through the Mt. Jackson and Bessemer areas picking up litter. He was an active member of New Castle Bible Church.
John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Toby Smith of Oakmont, PA; a son, Brian Sankey of Edinburg, PA; a brother and his wife, Gerald and Edie Sankey of Chesapeake, Virginia; and three grandchildren, Aidan O'Shane, Hadley O'Shane and Elliot Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at New Castle Bible Church, 2762 W. State Street, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Wednesday at 6:00 at the church with the Rev. Max Bungard officiating.
