John A. "Smitty" Smith, 71, of New Castle, passed away the morning of January 6, 2021 at his residence. Born January 4, 1950 in New Castle, he was the son of Adam and Delora (Riggans) Smith Hosler. A 1967 graduate of Union High School, he was employed at Walmart as a stocker. John was a member of the Bessemer Croatian Club and St. Margaret's Club. He was an avid Jeopardy enthusiast, enjoyed country karaoke and was both a singer and songwriter. He was known to his family as the most dedicated Pirates fan. John is survived by his wife, Carmelita "Carmie" (Peluso) Smith; one daughter, Lacy Dee Burdette of Fayetteville, West Virginia; 3 sisters, Arlene Boughner of Warren, Ohio, Louanna (Gary) Locke of New Castle, and Paula Queen of Findley, Ohio; and his companion "Revel", his grand dog. He was preceded in death by his parents. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are by the R.
