John "Jack" C. Stoner, Sr., 76, of New Castle passed away the evening of April 26, 2014, in Heritage Valley Medical Center. Jack was born on October 26, 1937 to the late William R. and Ruth Stewart Stoner, Sr. He married the former Nancy Lee Cook on July 11, 1958. Mr. Stoner was a proud 1956 graduate of Union Area High School. His first job was with Farmers Supply Co, which was owned by his father and grandfather. Jack then worked for Chambers Motor Co, Kings Motor Co, and retired in 2012 from Preston Motors. He was a life time member and former Fire Chief of the Union Township Volunteer Fire Department. In addition, Jack was a member of the Lodge of the Craft Westminster No. 433, The New Castle Consistory, Lawrence Caravan #15 of the Syria Shrine, Shriners International, and the Union Twp. Lion's Club. He was a member of Northminister Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and one of the few remaining members to transition from Central Presbyterian Church. Jack gave completely of himself to his family, the fraternal organizations that he belonged to, his church, and the Union Township VFD. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stoner is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa S. and Richard Hamilton of New Castle; one son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Connie Stoner, Jr., of Reading, PA; one brother, W. Robert "Bob" Stoner, Jr., of New Castle; five grandchildren, Matthew A. Hamilton, Andrew P. Hamilton and his wife Sue, Ashley E. Stoner, Nicholas A. Stoner, Jennifer N. Hamilton and one cherished great grandson, Grant Andrew Hamilton.He was preceded in passing by his parents.Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from 4-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2434 Wilmington Road. The Rev. Andrew Jillson will officiate. Burial will take place in Oak Park Cemetery.Memorial contributions can be made to the Union Township Volunteer Fire Department, 304 S.
